The Voice that calms the Storm by: Kathleen E. Banas
During the storms in our lives, the skies can be vicious,
filled with violence and anger,
and we seem very small as we tremble and cower,
listening to the thunder.
The blanket of blackness is dense and so vast,
we think the night will never be over,
eventually, though, the light pierces the darkness
and the peaceful heavens are uncovered.
Filled with the glory of the bright morning light,
the echo of thunder and the fury of last night
are now distant.....
Why be surprised by the storms in our life?
Jesus told us to expect persecution, sorrow and strife.
Remember, for us, He gave His own life so pure,
it was for our salvation He chose to endure.
Don't lose sight of the fact we are part of His plan,
though at this point in life we won't fully understand.
Look beyond the clouds we incur on occasion,
and focus your eyes on a much larger vision.
While unsteadied by life's windy gusts,
hear His words, "In Me put your trust."
As we journey through our earthly days,
there will be radiant times and terrential rains.
Realize that the love of the Father we know,
will only allow that which will help us grow.
Though at times, we doubt He is truly in command,
His Word tells us we are safe in the palm of His hand.
Our minds will always be looking for proof,
but in our spirits God has etched the truth.
Remember our time here is not the end of our story,
but our chance to accept His love, mercy and glory.
So the next time we hear ourselves saying "Why me?"
Look at our Savior and ask "Why He?"
